How to Keep Smooth & Moisturized Skin During the Winter- 3 Steps to Healthy Hydrated Skin.

Having dry skin is a struggle year round, however during the harsh winter months dry skin takes a turn for the worst. Dry skin not only looks horrible, but feels just as bad-itchy and at times painful. I used to think that I didn’t need to moisturize as much since I was going to wear long sleeves and jeans, which meant nobody would see my ashy ass elbows or knees. That all changed when my skin went 360 on me post partum, and now every inch of me is drier than the Sahara. Thankfully, it’s possible to keep your skin supple and healthy during the winter with just 3 simple steps.

Gentle Cleansers/Body Wash

It’s easy to over look what kind of body wash your using in your daily routine, since we care more for the scent than anything else. However, using a gentle formula will cleanse your body without stripping it of its essential oils. Those essential oils that your body produces keeps your skin healthy, which is usually striped away while using harsh soaps and body washes. Look for products that are formulated for dry or sensitive skin, which will effectively cleanse your body without drying our your skin even more than it already is. Also, Fragrance Free is your sensitive skin’s best friend!

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is very important, especially during the drier colder months. Exfoliating will help remove all your rough patches and reveal smooth skin. Exfoliate at least once a week, but I do not suggest exfoliating everyday. Try one of my brands body polishes that are designed with skin loving oils and non abrasive exfoliates like sugar to help reveal beautiful skin.

Moisturize

The most important step to keep your skin from looking like a reptile is moisturizing! Usually during the winter months, I will reach for a thicker consistency moisturizer like a butter cream. Butter creams help seal in all the hydration my skin needs and lasts all day. Solis Modern Wellness recently released the Calendula Repair & Revive Butter Cream, which has Organic Calendula Extract and so many beneficial oils such as shea butter and mango butter.

Let me know in the comments what products you use during the winter months to keep your skin glowing and healthy.

Holiday Gift Guide: Clean Skincare at Sephora & Introducing Solis Modern Wellness

The holiday season is upon us and because 2020 has been one hell of a year, this Christmas needs to be one for the books as well. If your looking to gift skin care products to your loved ones try introducing them to clean non-toxic options, which Sephora now has plenty of! Another option for clean beauty is Solis Modern Wellness, which is a brand new venture between myself and my sister Decire. I am sooooo excited to show everyone what we have been working so hard on, such as serums, face scrubs, toners and so much more.

Solis Modern Wellness started as my sisters solo hustle and soon she invited me along for the ride. For years, I’ve been in the pursuit of the perfect skin care for my sensitive acne prone skin, but with little success. It wasn’t until after I gave birth to my daughter did my skin take a turn for the worst. My face was like it had never been before, dry, rough and dull, which was the complete opposite of what it had been my entire life. However, thankfully Decire saved me with her sugar scrub, which is now our Radiance Face Scrub. She explained how she changed her skin care into clean nontoxic options. As I sat there listening to her passion speech of healthy skin care, her skin literally was glowing and it was enough for me to change mine too. My skin is not perfect, but its the best its been for as long as I can remember and its all because of switching my skin care to strictly clean and nontoxic. Solis Modern Wellness is more than skincare, we also have wellness items that support the whole family such as our Kids Detox Reset, Nontoxic Bug Spray and Immunity Rollers. Our goal is to bring clean nontoxic beauty and wellness for the entire family.

Below I’ve compiled a few clean beauty items from both Sephora and Solis Modern Wellness so you can shop for great gift sets or stocking stuffers. I’ve tried all these products and stand by them, so whichever ones you treat your loved ones with I’m sure they’ll love!

Fall Wardrobe for Baby Girls: Simple and Affordable Must Have Clothing Items from Amazon & Lessi’s Closet

Salome is the Queen of Rompers! I said what I said, Periodt!

Salome is such a beautiful, healthy and BIG baby. Since she’s been born she never wore her size according to age like most babies do, which has come with its difficulties. For example, my baby girl is wearing a size 18 months and she’s only 6 months old. How is that even possible!! Most of the time I like to put her into rompers because everything else in size 18 months are for kids that are walking so it just doesn’t fit her rolling around, tummy time, sitting up lifestyle. Regardless, I really enjoy dressing her up even if its mostly in rompers.

Rompers have been great for the summer, however it’s not going to stop in the fall. I plan on layering her rompers with long sleeve onesies underneath and adding knee high socks.

Amazon

One of my favorite purchases from the items mentioned above are the shoes, especially the black mary janes. They were a great price and the quality did not disappoint. As well the knee high socks are perfect, they have withstood several washes, very stretchy and are a the perfect thickness. Honestly, everything pictured above I would recommend!

Lessi’s Closet

Lessi’s Closet was recommended to me by a friend and I love when a recommendation lives up to its hype! The whole vibe is very boho chic and that’s right up my alley for Salome. They carry some very unique items like the sunnies above as well as the cutest little bags. When my ordered arrived I was blown away by the packaging, the attention to detail was amazing! The items were bagged in a reusable drawstring baggies, which I was thrilled to see an eco friendly approach. On top of all that, the shop is run by a mom and I am all for supporting mommies with hustle.

I would love to hear about your fall must have outfits for your babies, comment down below!

Stay Safe and Love Yourself!

Favorite Sunscreen: The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen My Go-To Sunscreen For Everyday Use.

Summer has come to an end here in California, however the heat didn’t seem to get the memo. For the past couple of weeks we have had the hottest days of the summer and I am not feeling it. I can not deal with heat, I haaaaate it. Aside from putting me in a bad mood, one of the reasons I despise the summer is because of my sensitive skin. The sun has such a horrible effect on my skin because of a condition called sun allergy. Basically, I get really red itchy bumps along my hands, arms, anywhere I’m exposed to the direct sun for too long and it stays like that for days-even weeks. I didn’t even know this was a thing until I started getting the bumps after a few times I was in the sun with out sunscreen. Ironically, I played soccer most of my life but during my soccer days I wouldn’t always wear sunscreen. Even though I knew I should of been wearing it, I could never find a sunscreen that wouldn’t leave a heavy white cast. Fast forward to post soccer days, and after a few failed attempts at various sunscreens, I have finally found one that I really love and is affordable.

I have been using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen on my face but as well on my body, especially my arms, chest, shoulders. Usually sunscreens are thick and leave you greasy and yucky feeling by the end of the day, so much so that you can’t wait to hop into the shower to wash it all off. However, this is not the case with the Hydro Boost Sunscreen. Even after working out in the sun or going on a brisk walk with my daughter I never have that lingering gross “sunscreen” feeling. As well, it pairs amazingly with foundations which is almost impossible with regular sunscreens. To sum up the this sunscreen the best way is by saying… it feels like a refreshing light weight moisturizer. I can not recommend this sunscreen enough, definitely give it a try especially during these last few hot days of summer.

  • Light Weight Gel Consistency
